
Many nonprofits have started over these past couple of years with an interest in one special field…STEM. What does STEM mean? Well of course, STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Nonprofits that specialize in STEM mostly are children or research oriented to promote advocacy or resources to one of the four fields.
Here is a list based on the top ten nonprofits that focus on STEM for kids and even adults. Enjoy!
1.Millennial Scnce

Millennial Scnce is A Not-for Profit group that focuses on aiding students in low income areas in New York City and Long Island with free programs and resources that relate to STEM ( Science, Technology, Education, Mathematics) fields.
Starting in January, the newly surfaced nonprofit will partner with the STEM Advocacy Institute, another nonprofit based in Boston that has a mission of “strengthening the network of access to science education, communication, and engagement.” The two organizations will start a curriculum for a STEM program aimed towards ninth and 10th graders in public High Schools in Long Island, NY. The four week long program will primarily educate the students on the various careers available in the STEM field.
2. STEM for HER

STEM for Her, formerly known as Women in Technology Education Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation, based in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. area that promotes education to create awareness, excitement, and opportunities among girls and young women to pursue successful STEM-related careers.
In addition to it’s powerful advocacy STEM for Girls ranked sixth best STEM organization for women and girls. STEM for Her provides funding for programs that foster STEM interest in girls and young women through field trips, speakers, programs and curriculum development, and contributes program resources for clubs and after school groups in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. that serve girls.
3. Geeks Rule

Geeks Rule promotes the study of and engagement with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among underserved youth.
Their vision is to eliminate the racial, gender and socioeconomic gap in the STEM fields in order to meet the growing need of STEM professionals in the United States. Geeks Rule will help eliminate this gap through hands-on and mentoring programs in the major cities across the U.S.
Within five years their goal is to reach 12,000 underrepresented minorities (URMs), with 1,500 having significant, life-impacting experiences in our more-intensive programs. Of this latter group, more than 60% of these students will attend college, with most pursuing studies in a STEM field.
5. Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does. The goal for this nonprofit is to build the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the United States.
This nonprofit has serviced 185,000 girls to date and to continues to reach more young females everyday!
